We invite all farmers wishing to enter the competition of Golden Field in Latvia 2016 to submit the initial part of their application forms by March 4, 2016. In accordance to the regulations of the competition, such application forms are necessary to become a competitor. All contenders are also asked to send a copy of the application to the publishing house of Saimnieks LV.
In order to organize the competition of the Golden Field in Latvia 2016 we have created an organizing committee and a panel of judges.
The organising committee consists of the chairman – Egils Svikis (SIA BALTIC AGRO), deputy chairman – Rihards Krastins (founder of Fund for Development of Agriculture of Latvia) and representatives of different companies.
The panel of judges, with Janis Kopmanis, Aiga Tillere and Aiva Kupfere on board, will also feature the members of the organising committee. Besides being a part of the panel of judges, agronomist Janis Kopmanis will undertake the responsibilities of the head of the panel and will also sum up the materials of evaluation.
With this competition we aim to popularize the most successful experience of winter wheat and canola, and bean growers participating in the Golden Field in Latvia . In order to do that we will use the results acquired from the contestants participating in this competition from 2009 to 2015.
The Fund welcomes the participation of farmers, who manage at least 350 ha, and fields where winter wheat and canola take more than 10 ha, but fields of beans – 7 ha. A farmer shall enter at least two different fields in the competition. There are requirements for infrastructure, plans of fertilising, use of protection means for plants and correspondence to the Rules for Good Agricultural Practices. The fields of applicants are visited by the commission of the event and samples are taken for a test.
All contestants will receive diplomas for the participation in the competition and consolation prizes, but owners of the best results will receive bigger prizes. The awarding ceremony will take place during a celebratory closing event on November 17, 2016.
